Program Name: Backcountry Signal

Description: Two-way conversational outdoor safety and backcountry guidance via SMS. This service is designed to provide helpful information when you are outdoors. It is user-initiated support, not for marketing blasts.

Not an Emergency Service

Backcountry Signal is not an emergency or rescue service. In an emergency, call 911 or use your device's satellite SOS first.

How to Opt In

Users opt in by entering their mobile number and checking the SMS consent box during signup. Backcountry Signal then sends a six-digit verification code to the mobile number provided. The user enters that code on the website to verify the number and complete signup. After verification, the user may text Backcountry Signal and receive user-requested replies and occasional account-related notices.

Consent is not a condition of purchase.

Message frequency varies based on user activity.

Msg and data rates may apply.

Opt Out

Reply STOP at any time to cancel. Your opt-out is applied immediately, and a final message confirming it is sent (at most one confirmation per day). You can opt back in at any time by replying START (replying YES also works).
